  • Reference a specific moment from your conversation to show you were paying attention.
  • Include one concrete next step. Vague follow-ups like "Let's keep in touch" rarely lead anywhere.

  • Match their communication style -- if they were casual, keep it casual. If they were formal, stay professional.
